Bus Operations Monitoring in Cape Town

In 2009, TESS was appointed by the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works (WCDOT) to assist with the transfer of the Conducting Authority Function to the City of Cape Town. This included the contract negotiation facilitation between the WCDOT and Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS) who are the passenger bus company contracted by the City of Cape Town to provide bus services.

In addition to this, TESS was appointed to provide supervision and monitoring services for GABS. This included:

  • Facilitating operational and management meetings

  • Overseeing timetable changes

  • Verification of fare increases

  • Verification of monthly payment certificate and monthly report

  • Assistance with requests, complaints and general inquiries

  • Verification of electronic monitoring system (EMS)

  • Electronic ticketing roll-out report

  • Calibration update of EMS where required
